Social Proof in Travel Booking Flows
Feb 20, 2025·Growth, UX·6 min read
A user about to book a $4,000 liveaboard needs more than a pretty photo. They need evidence that others like them had a good experience and that the operator is who they claim to be.
The Trust Stack
Social proof works in layers: recent booking notifications ('3 people booked this today'), verified reviews with photos, operator certifications, and media mentions. Each layer addresses a different objection.
The most effective social proof is specific. 'Great trip' is noise. 'Saw 12 mantas on the third dive, guides were knowledgeable about currents' is persuasion.
